TO ALL MEMBERS,
When playing TMGC from Sunday 5th July 2020 we ask that you follow the procedures below until further notice – daily marshalling will now cease BUT random spot checks will take place.
On a final note and on behalf of you all I would like to thank the small group of volunteer ‘marshalls’ who have given up their time to enable our golf course to open over the last 5 weeks – without them this would not have been possible and our membership could potentially have dwindled. Since 3rd June 2020 when we re-opened our membership numbers have climbed to 173 including many new members which is great news indeed. Well done to all of them.
We sincerely hope many of you will join us on Sunday 12th July 2020 for the start of our competitions – if you can’t make this one then do try and make the next one. You are all most welcome to join in the fun.
Thank you all for your co-operation and support during this time. Please Stay Safe, Best Wishes to you all and above all enjoy your Golf and our fabulous golf course!!
POINTS TO OBSERVE WHEN YOU TURN UP TO PLAY AT TOWN MEADOW
Our decisions right now are not being taken lightly – it is important that we do our utmost to protect the state and quality of our golf course and the safety of our members.
Town Meadow Golf Course remains temporarily closed – with a prolonged period of dry weather now forecast we are really hopeful that we can advise all members that our course will fully reopen very soon. When that decision is made we will update the website accordingly AND send a notification e-mail to all members.
With immediate effect, and due to government guidelines on the Coronavirus (social distancing), and the amount of people who attend these events, we have decided that the monthly club competitions will be suspended until further notice.
At this stage, and unless you are classed as being part of an ‘at risk’ group, the Government are not preventing us from venturing outdoors for some fresh air and exercise. Golf provides a great opportunity to do this provided that you observe the social distancing guidelines below for your own safety and the safety of others.
If you do decide to play golf at Town Meadow it is of course at your own discretion and risk. However, we request that all players observe the following guidelines, adopted by many local clubs in the area:
We will be constantly monitoring the situation and the safety guidelines issued by government regards Coronavirus and will update the clubs position accordingly.
Please be advised that until further notice Town Meadow Golf Course is closed.
This decision has not been taken lightly, but due to the course being water logged and saturated it is felt the most appropriate decision to protect it from further damage.
We will be constantly monitoring the situation and will advise members once the course is reopened.
We hope you understand and ask for your assistance in adhering to the closure and advising others who may not be aware.
Ian Mackin - Chairman
All golfers...we require a working party for Saturday 30th November to help the groundsman maintain the course.
Please be aware that the Town Meadow Hall has been hired out by a local club and therefore non golfers may venture on to the course between 8am and 3.30pm. Please take care if you are playing on that day.
The club's AGM will be held on Tuesday 23rd April 2019 at 7pm in the Town Meadow Hut.
Any members wishing to propose a resolution for consideration at the AGM must forward it to the secretary no later than 17th April 2019. The proposal must be in writing and seconded by another member.
The Agenda has been emailed already to members.
We still have two places left for the St Mellion Golf weekend Sunday 26th - Tuesday 28th May.
Cost £259 per golfer sharing a twin room - £95 supplement for single occupancy. Non-Golfers £169.

Our groundsman has asked for a working party to clear debris on Saturday 16th March (8:30 onwards) from the course caused by the recent storms.
If enough man/woman power is available then the small drainage ditches on the 6th fairway could also be filled in, now that the river works have been completed. Also some wood chipping could be spread too.
The March competition has been postponed until 10th March 2019 due to adverse weather.
In February 2019 several trees were felled on the Sixth hole and volunteers have assisted Dennis and Paul Wake clear the debris. So the hole should be fully playable.
There are sheets
within the hut to sign up for competitions as they are available.
The events page also provides a complete list of all matches and competition fixtures for 2019.
